Reciprocity - The practice of exchanging things with others for mutual benefit, especially privileges granted by one country or organization to another. Certain states will limit the extent to which they honor health care directives(reciprocity) from other states, meaning they will only accept them so far as they comply with their own laws. This creates a bit of a legal grey area, however, most times it doesn't become an issue.

Specific Powers

Any medical procedure or intervention which would serve only to prolong the dying process and where death will occur whether or not such procedure is utilized. Does not include medication or any medical procedures necessary to alleviate pain or provide comfort care Declaration not in effect during declarant’s pregnancy.

Revocation Duration

A living will is revocable at any time by declarant by:
  1. destruction of the document
  2. written revocation signed and dated by the principal
  3. verbal expression in presence of adult witnesses who sign and dates a written confirmation
  4. Revocation is effective upon receipt by physician. Desires of patient at all times supersede any previous declaration

Transfer Unwilling

Physician shall effect the transfer— failure to do so constitutes unprofession al conduct

Immunity Physician

No criminal, civil, or professional liability for acting in good faith and pursuant to reasonable medical standards when acting pursuant to a declaration
